2. Closeout Domain Names
When a domain name does not sell at pre-release auction, it goes to “closeout” sale. This is like a fire sale by the registrar who tries to sell the domain at discounted buy it now price (BIN).
When the registrar is clearing out domains at reduced prices the term “closeout” is used for those domains.
It is the last chance to buy the domains from the registrar before it is released to the registry. Then it finally drops and can be acquired by anyone.
Advantages of buying a Closeout Domain:
WHOIS creation date of closeout domain is not reset when you buy them. These domains also offer great value in comparison to price.
Disadvantages of buying a Closeout Domain:
Sometimes it is hard to figure out the time at which it will be possible to buy the closeout domain.
