On Hold Domain Names
If the original owner of domain does not renew the domain before expiry date and is at Registrar Hold status is called “On Hold Domain”.
Whereas most of the domain names with “On Hold Domain” position are normal expired domains, though some of these domains can be in a legal dispute.
Advantages of On Hold Domains:
To get this domain one has to contact the original owner of domain, if the owner agrees to sell the domain, the whole deletion process can be bypassed.
If the domain gets bought from the owner directly, the WHOIS creation date is not reset.
Disadvantages of On Hold Domains:
To acquire the “On Hold Domain”, a redemption fee has to be paid by the original owner of domain before it can be sold.
The redemption fee increases the price of domain, it also gives the owner a likely value of the domain making it pricey to acquire.
