Redemption Grace Period is a stage where if the domain is not renewed by the owner of the domain before the expiry date.
Advantages of Redemption Grace Period:
The only way to acquire a domain which is in redemption period is by getting in touch with the owner of the domain.
If the owner agrees to sell the domain the deletion process can be circumvented which also reduces the competition to get it.
Another advantage of acquiring the domain this way is that the creation date of the domain does not change in WHOIS.
Disadvantages of Redemption Grace Period:
The only disadvantage to acquiring the domain this way is that there is an additional cost of redemption fee which has to be paid to renew the domain, only then it can be sold.
