Dropping domain is a phrase used to define the status of a domain, it means that the domain will be deleted from registry.
Advantages of Dropping Domain:
Dropping domains do not get sold in open auction, like pre-release domain names. The cost to acquire these domains is usually lower.
Disadvantages of Dropping Domain:
It is hard to acquire a dropping domain because of high competition and low success rate.
Another disadvantage of dropping domains is that there WHOIS creation date gets reset when the domain is dropped from registry.
